In order to protect customers and improve the deliverability of valid text messages, the phone industry has implemented various measures. Companies are now required to register the phone numbers used for text message campaigns with The Campaign Registry.

Short form for Application-to-Person 10-Digit-Long Code, A2P 10DLC is a system designed for companies to send text messages using local 10-digit phone numbers.
Prior to this change, US long codes were primarily designed for person-to-person (P2P) texting, which had a low volume limit. Since the new system is created with businesses in mind, for B2B companies, carriers’ A2P 10DLC offerings can allow companies to not only increase their output but also improve the success of delivery.

The registration of A2P 10DLC messaging campaigns is managed by The Campaign Registry (TCR), an entity tasked with setting industry standards and working alongside messaging companies, carriers, and other partners to provide registration services.

Yes, all customers who use US numbers for SMS campaigns will need to register. Unregistered phone numbers will no longer be able to send SMS.
What if my company is not based in the US?
If your company is texting using US phone numbers or testing US numbers in general, you will need to register.
If you do not send any messages to users in the United States using long code numbers, you do not need to do anything.
How long will it take for my number to be approved?
Registration approval times may take anywhere between 20-30 business days.
